Marliss Jane Fisher


Marliss Fisher, 80, of Lakefield, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Sanford Jackson Hospital.  A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield.  A private family burial will be held at Memorial Gardens in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Marliss Jane Fisher was born on October 5, 1939 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Aaron and Lillian (Ferguson) Coyer.  She attended country school before graduating from Spirit Lake High School.  On May 22, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Fisher at the Spirit Lake Baptist Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa.  After marriage, they farmed in Sioux Valley and Marliss dedicated herself to taking care of her husband and children. Marliss passed away at the Sanford Jackson Hospital on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 80 years and 17 days.

Marliss was skilled at crocheting, knitting, quilting, and sewing.  She enjoyed flower gardening as well as vegetable gardening which she also canned.  Marliss was an avid reader and was particularly fond of Karen Kingsbury novels.  She challenged herself with jigsaw puzzles and preferred them large and difficult as well as the crossword puzzles published within The National Inquirer.  Marliss loved chocolate turtles, chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate ice cream, and Hostess Sno Balls.  She was especially fond of visits from her children and grandchildren.

Marliss is survived by daughters Kelly Gabriel of Okabena, MN, Karla (Michael) Bosshardt of Mesa, AZ, Konnie (Doug) Madsen of Brewster, MN, Kristie (Lance) Frerichs of Lakefield, MN, and Kimberly Fisher of Lakefield, MN; son Kevin (Camille) Fisher of Winona, MN;  25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Sharon (Doug) Rutter and Mavis Christoffer; and brother Alvin Coyer.

Marliss was preceded in death by Kenneth, her husband of 56 years; her parents; and her son, Keith Fisher.
