William Fay Sirovy II, 83, of Jackson passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at The Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson with Pastor Steve DeKok officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson and will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Burial with full Military Rites by the Jackson American Legion Post 130 will take place immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, Minnesota.
William “Bill” Fay Sirovy II, son of William and Ruby (Fawcett) Sirovy, was born on Tuesday, December 17, 1935 in Jackson, Minnesota. Bill attended Jackson High School until leaving to honorably serve his country as a Field Artillery Operations and Intelligence Specialist in the US Army from 1954 through 1957 including a tour in Germany. On March 31, 1957 Bill was united in marriage with Evonne Rossow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Parsonage in New Ulm, Minnesota. They made their home in Jackson, Minnesota. Bill worked very hard to provide for his family driving truck, operating a tour bus, and working road construction. Bill passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jackson at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 11 days.
Bill liked pheasant hunting, family camping and fishing trips, and owned his own bait shop. He was passionate about training dogs for hunting and field trials, and also raised and rode horses. Bill looked forward to playing cards and drinking coffee with his buddies. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was the co-inventor of four-season snowmobiling.
Bill is survived by Evonne Sirovy of Jackson, his wife of 62 years; sons William (Jeri) Sirovy III and Colin Sirovy of Jackson; daughters Callie Sirovy of Madelia, Minnesota, and Melissa Sirovy of Trimont, Minnesota; along with seven grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruby, brothers Farrell and Allan, and sister LaVonne Nielsen.
