Lyle Fisher, 91, of Jackson passed away on August 19, 2019 at The Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson with Pastor Eunice Woodberry and Pastor Steve DeKok officiating. Visitation will take place at one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Riverside Cemetery.
Lyle Henry Fisher was born on July 25, 1928 in rural Montgomery, Iowa, the son of Henry and Adel (Vodraska) Fisher. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MN. The family moved to Jackson County, Minnesota, where Lyle attended country school and then farmed with his father. He was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” Pater on June 26, 1949 at Lake Park Presbyterian Church. The couple started out their married life renting a farm. They later purchased a farm in Middletown Township where Lyle worked until retiring in 1995. They then made the big move from the gravel road to an acreage on Highway 71. They moved to Jackson in 2014 where Shirley Miller provided loving care and assistance at their home. Lyle moved into the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson in October of 2017, and there he passed away on August 19, 2019 at the age of 91 years and 25 days.
Lyle was very creative and loved to tinker, always making do with what he had available. His inventive projects included developing a system for measuring and mixing hog feed used in his farrow to finish hog operation. Lyle enjoyed hosting threshing bees at their place on Highway 71. He also organized tractor rides that ran in conjunction with the threshing bee. He was known for being kindhearted, honest, and always willing to help. He put family first, advocated for keeping business local, and consistently stood up for the less fortunate. Lyle was also very active in the Lions Club where he was named Lion of the Year and was named a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Lyle is survived by Millie, his wife of 70 years; daughters Linda (John) Givan, Sandra (Bruce) Gervais, and Brenda (Dave) Gervais; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister Anna Marie Schumann; and many nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leroy, Kenneth, and Roger; his brother-in-law Clarence Schumann; sister-in-law Vivian Fisher; and nephews Keith Fisher and Dan Fisher.
