LaVonne Rae Kraft


LaVonne Rae Kraft, 93, of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Sunday, August 4, 2019.  A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Lakefield VFW on September 7, 2019, from 2:00-5:00 PM.

LaVonne Rae Kraft was born on November 7, 1925 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the daughter of Irvin and Thelma (Higley) Rue.  She was baptized and confirmed Methodist and was an avid churchgoer.  LaVonne graduated from Lakefield High School in 1943 and lived in Worthington, Albert Lea, and then Minneapolis.  She was united in marriage to Loren Kraft on September 7, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the couple made their home in Lakefield.  In April of 2018 LaVonne moved into Valley View Assisted Living and on Sunday, August 4, 2019 she passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

LaVonne was very loving, liked to give, and always cared for others.  She was loved by all and was devoted to her family.  LaVonne was also stubborn as a mule.  She was a sports fan, especially of the Twins and Vikings.  LaVonne had many passions, including gardening and canning, quilting and embroidery, along with dancing, reading, and solving jigsaw puzzles.

LaVonne is survived by her son Bruce Kraft of Kernersville, North Carolina, daughter Trudy (Ern) Malchow of Lakefield, daughter Lorie Hanson of Lakefield, and son Billy (Teresa) Kraft of Menomonie, Wisconsin; son-in-law Larry Kruse and daughter-in-law Kathy Kraft; sister JoAnn (Jerry) Matasovsky of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.

LaVonne was preceded in death by Loren Kraft, her husband of 58 years; her parents Irvin and Higley Rue; daughter Susan Kruse; son Brian Kraft; granddaughter Shauna Kraft; and great-grandson Brexlee Thammalong.
