Irma R. Barie


IRMA R. BARIE, 97, of Jackson, passed away at the Estherville Good Samaritan Center on Tuesday, November 30, 2010.  Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor Eric Hullstrom officiating.  Burial with be at the Superior Cemetery in Superior, Iowa.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home and on Saturday – one hour prior to the service at the Church.

IRMA RUTH BARIE, the daughter of John and Georgia Anna (Walbridge) Winter, was born on October 6, 1913 in Dickinson County, Iowa.  She attended schools in North Superior, Iowa and Petersburg, Minnesota.  She was united in marriage to Loyd Edward Barie on July 9, 1940 in Adel, Iowa.  She  cleaned houses in Superior and Algona, Iowa until moving to Jackson in 1966.  Irma then went to work at the Sperry Univac Company in Jackson.  She worked there for 9 years before retiring.  Irma and Loyd spent their winters in the south and western states until Loyd’s passing on February 11, 1986.  Irma passed away at the Estherville Good Samaritan Center on November 30, 2010, at the age of 97 years, 1 month, and 24 days.

 Irma was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson.  She was active in the Circle and Quilting Clubs.  She was a member of the Jackson VFW Auxiliary and Board Member of the Superior Cemetery Society.  She was in the Pool Club at the Highrise in Jackson.  She enjoyed playing cards and board games.  She was kind hearted, who loved to help others.  She was so proud of all her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. 

 Irma is survived by her children Dona (Allen) Vanderby of Osakis, Minnesota, Dennis Sr. (Nancy) Barie of Estherville, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Joan Barie of Estherville, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, brother, Lyle Winter of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, sister, Viola Triggs of Estherville, Iowa, and sister-in-law, Violet Winter of Jackson, Minnesota.

 Irma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Loyd, son, David Barie, sisters, Iva Boughey, Helen Bramstedt, Velma Cavinnes, Edna Bendixon, Pearl Winter, Edith Winter, brothers, Bob Winter, Howard Winter, Wayne Winter, Leslie Winter, Elmer Winter, and great-grandson, Jeremy Gettel.

 Blessed be the memory of Irma Ruth Barie.

    So sorry for your lost. Irma will be missed by all who loved her and knew her and the staff at Good Sam who who took care of her.
    It is so hard to loose a loved one, but know they are now in no pain. May God Help You All At This Time to help you ease the pain
