Elaine Matasovsky


ELAINE M. MATASOVSKY, 88, of rural Jackson passed away at her home on Sunday, November 7, 2010.  Funeral service will be in Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Holy trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township, Jackson County with Pastor Bart Mueller officiating.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota Township. Jackson County.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson and on Thursday – one hour prior to the service at the Church.

ELAINE MARGE MATASOVSKY was born on October 5, 1922 in Middletown Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Esther (Fisher) Grantz.  She had lived on a farm near Loon Lake, in Spirit Lake and finally Jackson.  She graduated from Jackson High School in1941.  She then worked as a telephone operator for several years.  She was united in marriage to Milton Matasovsky on June 13, 1948 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township.  After marriage, they lived on his parent’s farm before moving a mile down the road to his Grandmother Mary Matasovsky’s home.  They later moved back to Milt’s home place before settling into their dream home on a hill in Hunter Township.  Elaine passed away there on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the age of 88 years and 1 month and 2 days.

 Elaine was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been involved in the Ladies Aid and different committees, both as a member and as an officer.  She and Milton traveled widely to the Holy Land, Egypt, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and many bus trips throughout the United States.  She later enjoyed watching the crops, the weather and their neighborhood from the top of the hill.

 Elaine is survived by her husband of 62 years, Milton, of rural Jackson; children, Joyce Matasovsky of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Corrine Muske of Spencer, Iowa, Loren Matasovsky (Mark Jones) of Palm Springs, California, Susan (Dale) Schulz of Alpha, Minnesota and Steve (Brenda) Matasovsky of Jackson, Minnesota, 6 grandchildren, James Muske, Erin Schulz, Laura (Cole) Rossow, Kristin Schulz, Sarah Matasovsky and Jason Matasovsky, a sister Betty Vagle of Redwood Falls, Minnesota and a brother, Art (Beverly) Grantz of Jackson.

 Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Paul and an infant son, and 3 brothers, Leland, Harvey and Gerald Grantz.
