BLANCHE KATHRYN GREENSIDE was born on April 14, 1915 in Cass Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Joe and Cora (Beaty) Glackin. At a young age, Blanche and her older sister and parents moved to a farm in the Royal, Iowa area. She graduated from Everly High School in 1932. After graduation, she worked as a housekeeper for $2.00 a week, as this was during the Great Depression. Also, she worked at the Swift Plant in Spencer, Iowa, candling eggs. She then came to rural Jackson to help her aunt and uncle with the children where she met her future husband Vern Greenside at a very close by town hall during Saturday night dance. They were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, Iowa on November 25, 1937. They moved to his family farm and she became a good homemaker. Vern passed away in April of 1985. Blanche remained on the farm until 2001 when she became a resident of Jackson Good Samaritan Center. She passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

Blanche was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and served on the Jackson Council of Catholic Women where she was known to bring the best homemade bread to the yearly fall bazaars and to the rest of the family the best pumpkin (squash) pies to family holiday gatherings. While living on the farm she raised chickens. Blanche enjoyed gardening, flowers, all yard work, music, dancing, preserving vegetables from the garden, cooking, baking, neighborhood coffee parties, and going to Hardees to visit with people and play bingo.

Blanche is survived by daughter, Dolores Dopp of Jackson, son, Ron (special friend Diane Thompson) of rural Jackson, 3 grandchildren, Lon (Jill) Dopp, Lisa (Mark) Domyahn, and Devin Greenside, 5 great grandchildren, Joce, Lauren, and Conner Dopp, and Evie and Anna Domyahn.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Vern, daughter, Darlene, brothers, Roy and Eugene Glackin, sisters, Cecelia Lape and Alice LeClair, and son-in-law, Larry Dopp.

Blessed be the memory of Blanche Kathryn Greenside.

Dolores and Ronnie, am so sorry to hear about your Mom. It seems so strange to think about all the fun times we had with your Mom, playing with the clothes upstairs in the old house. We had such good times with you guys. Now another generation has disappeared. Sympathies to you both from all of us in Texas. Love Mary Rita and Colleen
