Diane T. Johnson

Johnson, DianeDIANE T JOHNSON, 64, of Windom passed away at her home on Monday, October 18, 2010.  Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 5 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Windom with Pastor Sarah Butler officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church.  In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.

DIANE THERESE JOHNSON was born on July 14, 1946 in Westbrook, Minnesota, the daughter of Clair and Ella (Rupp) Peterson.  She spent her childhood years on their farm southeast of Storden, Minnesota.  She enjoyed her life on the farm and enjoyed her pet kittens.  She graduated from Storden High School in 1964, where she was active in the band and was also a baton twirler.

Soon after high school, she met Gilbert Johnson and they were married on June 20th, 1964 in a country Church south of Storden.  Their marriage was blessed with four children.  In the early years, while living in Windom, Diane worked at Happy Chef. For several years, she was active in the choir at the American Lutheran Church.  They settled on a farm north of Windom, where they raised their children and had a menagerie of animals. She also helped her children actively participate in the Dale Diggers 4-H club. After much prodding, she was blessed with 6 grandchildren, who she enjoyed spoiling with love.  She participated in many destinations provided by the Reading Bus Tours Company. Recently, she became an active member of the Glad Garden Club.  She was a loving care-giver of the disabled at the Home for Creative Living for 27 years and at the PRL for 4 years. Ten weeks ago, Diane was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Treatment was not an option as the cancer had spread to many of her vital organs.  Her wish was to be at home with her family.  Her angel called her home that early morning of Monday, October 18, 2010 at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 4 days.

She also enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing.  She enjoyed sharing sunset bonfires in her garden sanctuary.

Diane is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gilbert Johnson of Windom, 2 daughters, Lisa (Randy) McCloud of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Tonya (Nick) Muller of Windom, Minnesota and a son, Kevin (Jennifer) Johnson of Two Harbors, Minnesota, 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Travis (TJ) Johnson and a brother, Duane Peterson.

She was the caregiver with the kindest heart that expected no reward but deserved it all the more.
