Ernest H. Petersen

Scan_Pic0004ERNEST H. PETERSEN, 94, of Jackson passed away on Sunday, October 03, 2010 at the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom.  A private family graveside service will be on Thursday with Pastor Rick Bremseth officiating with Military Honors by the Jackson American Legion and VFW Posts.

ERNEST HARLEY PETERSEN was born March 15, 1916 in Petersburg Township son of Henry and Alma (Olson) Petersen. He attended public school at Petersburg Public Schools. He worked on the family farm until 1940. He served his country in the Army from 1940 until September of 1943. On June 10, 1950 he was married to Doris Carter at Presbyterian Manse in Jackson. He was employed for 30 years at Strube Construction as a carpenter, and cement and brick layer. He also farmed for 15 years. He passed away at Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom at the age of 94 years, 6 months, 18 days.

 Ernest was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Jackson American Legion for 39 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends, going on long drives, and playing Bingo.

 Ernest is survived by his wife Doris of 60 years of Jackson, one son Michael Gilmore of Jackson, two daughters Verda Garms of Jackson, and Joleen (Eugene) Flohrs of Sherburn, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

 Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Mable, LaVerne, Clarence, Lester, Harold, Wesley, Roy and Lloyd.

 Blessed be the memory of Ernest Harley Petersen.

    I read on the internet Ernest died,I have lost track of the family but think of them often,all the brothers and sisters are gone now.Doris I don’t know you but I am very sorry for you and your families loss.Looking at the pic I told my husband gee looking at my uncle and I don’t know him.I always wondered about Patti and Suzi,and Claudette.Again I’m very sorry.
