JANICE M. BOWMAN, 83, of Jackson, Minnesota passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Jackson on Monday, August 09, 2010. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Chapel at the Good Samaritan Home in Jackson with Pastor Chris Drew officiating. Interment will take place at the Grandview Memorial Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania at a later date.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
JANICE MAE BOWMAN was born on February 13, 1927 in Berks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph and Esther (Heim) Moyer. She attended Stouchsburg Grade School and later Myerstown High School, where she graduated in 1945. She was united in marriage to George H. Bowman on July 6, 1957, in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. After marriage, they moved to Lebanon, Pennsylvania. They moved four times in that town before ending up on East Maple Street for 17 years. She had worked as a textile screener at an art studio for a few years. She then worked for a chiropractor for a few years before going back to the art studio. She had also worked for a printing company before retiring. On October 21, 1991, Janice and George moved to Minneota Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. Then on August 6, 2004, she and George became residents of the Jackson Good Samaritan Center. Janice passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Jackson on August 9, 2010, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 27 days.
Janice was a member of the First Evangelical Covenant Congregational Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. After they moved to Jackson County, Minnesota, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was active in the women’s group and circles. Janice was also a member of the Ladies Home Auxiliary of Minneota Township in Jackson County. Janice was known for her big heart and had a passion of animals.
Janice is survived by her husband of 53 years, George Bowman, a brother-in-law, Jack Bowman of Lebanon, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, LaRoy Moyer, two sisters, Alverta Johnson and Betty Johnson.
