Arlette H. Swanson

Swanson, ArletteARLETTE HELENE SWANSON was born on March 25, 1926, in Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Tewes) Finnern.  She attended District #113 Country School from age 6-13 and graduated from  Sioux Valley High School in 1943.  After graduation until 1946 she candled eggs in Lake Park, Iowa,  for Worthmore Produce.  Also, during this time, she lived with several families and cared for their children.  On February 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Herbert LeRoy Swanson at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota.  After marriage, they moved to the Swanson family century farm in Minneota Township.  She stayed at home to take care of the children and help on the farm.  She did painting and wallpapering with her sister-in-law, Leona Swanson, and later with Millie Swanson.

Herbert passed away on September 28, 2005.   On October 1, 2006, Arlette moved into the Valley View Assisted Living in Lakefield, Minnesota.  Arlette passed away at the Jackson Good Samaritan on Thursday, August 05, 2010, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Arlette was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidering, and playing cards, especially 500.  She loved visiting with her family and friends.

Arlette is survived by her three children, a son, Bradley Swanson of Lakefield, Minnesota, two daughters, Lynne Anderson of Jackson, Minnesota and Linda (Ken) Butzow of Faribault, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Janice (Lawrence) Gath of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Eunice Finnern of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Arlette is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years, Herbert Swanson, a sister, Betty Mumm, and a son-in-law, Kim Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2010 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township, beginning at 10:30a.m. with Pastor Bart Mueller officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Lakefield City Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2010 at the Osterberg-Hansen Funeral Home from 5-7p.m. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
