Dennis J. Perkins

 DENNIS J. PERKINS, 78, of Jackson passed away at his home on Thursday, April 29, 2010.  Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:30 AM the United Methodist Church in Jackson with Pastor David Brown officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will be at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church.

DENNIS JACKSON PERKINS was born on March 26, 1932 in Huntington, Iowa, the son of Harry and Naomi (Jackson) Perkins.  He graduated from Estherville High School in 1950.  After graduation he entered the US Air Force.  He was discharged and moved back to Estherville and continued his education at Estherville Community College.  He graduated from there and went to Iowa State before transferring to Dunwoody to complete his degree in Electronics.  On September 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Janice Hiles at the Christian Church in Estherville.  He worked for Pepsi in Estherville for a year, before going to work for the State of Iowa for 10 years.  He then bought the Bee-Line Alignment shop.  He had owned a Sears Catalog store in Jackson and been the production engineer for Sperry-Univac in Jackson.  Dennis passed away at his home in Jackson on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the age of 78 years, two months and four days.

 Dennis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jackson.  He had been a long time member of the VFW Post in Estherville.  He had been associated with the VFW Racing Association since 1969.  He drove the pace car for 5 years and retired in 1985.  He enjoyed tinkering with race cars and cars in general.  He loved working with metal.

 Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Perkins of Jackson, two sons, Neal Perkins and Brad (Barb) Perkins of Jackson, 3 grandchildren, Shannon (Adam)Sauer, Christopher Perkins, Nathan (Celsey) Perkins and 5 great-grandchildren, Ashlee and Griffin Hausmann, Tyson Sauer and Cayana and Mason Perkins.

 Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Eckman.
