Edith E. Winter


EDITH E. WINTER, 82, of Jackson passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Sunday, April 18, 2010.  Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor Eric Hullstrom officiating.  Burial will follow at Superior Cemetery in Superior, Iowa. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson and on Wednesday – one hour prior to the service at the Church.

 

EDITH ELNORA WINTER was born on December 29, 1927 in Petersburg, Minnesota, the daughter of John Frederick and Georgia Anna (Walbridge) Winter.  She had attended country school rural Jackson County.  After her education, she worked at home until she moved to St. Peter, Minnesota.  She had worked as a dishwasher at the Country Kitchen and later worked in the kitchen at the St. Peter Hospital for 18 years.  She then moved back to Jackson.  Edith passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 20 days.

 Edith was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson.  She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.  She enjoyed playing bingo in Estherville, Spirit Lake and especially at the Clay County Fair.  She enjoyed crafts.  She was a very strong willed lady with lots of perseverance. 

 Edith is survived by her 2 sisters, Irma Barie of Jackson, Viola Triggs of Estherville, Iowa, 2 brothers, Lyle Winter of St Paul, Minnesota and Elmer (Violet) Winter of Jackson, and many nephews and nieces.

 Edith was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, Iva Boughey, Edna Bendixen, Velma Caviness, Helen Bramstedt and Pearl Winter and 4 brothers, Howard Winter, Robert Winter, Wayne Winter and Leslie Winter.
