Lois Arlene Neitzel


Lois Arlene Vrchota, daughter of Louis and Ella (Baumgarn) Vrchota, was born January 30, 1938 in Lakefield Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lakefield. She attended school in Lakefield and graduated salutatorian of her class in 1956. She began employment at Walker and Crawford Insurance Agency immediately after graduation.

On August 31, 1958, Lois was united in marriage to Larry Neitzel at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, and two sons were born of the marriage. The family moved to Oxnard, California in 1962 where Lois worked at the Raytheon Corp. and Oxnard Police Department. In 1968 the family moved to Ukiah, California and Lois worked at the State Farm Insurance Agency in Ukiah. They moved back to Minnesota in 1974. Lois began her employment in Jackson with Maylon Muir and John Lundblad law office as a legal secretary and bookkeeper. She retired January 2, 2004 after 29 years of employment. After her retirement she had a part-time job at Dueber’s Department Store and BP Expressway in Jackson.

Lois enjoyed music and sang with the Fairmont Sweet Adelines and Redrock Ridge Sweet Adelines for a number of years as well as in the church choir. She loved flowers, to dance, play cards, fish, go to casinos and visit her sons and their families in Georgia and Arizona. She also did a lot of crocheting, embroidering, rug braiding, and quilt making. She won many blue ribbons at the county fair and won Judge’s awards on several occasions.

She is survived by her son Tim, and grandson Corey in Phoenix, AZ and son, Todd, his wife Kim and grandchildren Tyler and Kayla, in Acworth, Ga, and a very special friend, Larry Sherwood. Also surviving are sister Kathryn Johnson of Windom, and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Elaine Darling, and Delores Mosley and grandparents.

Funeral services will be on Sunday December 28, 2008 at 1:30PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor John Schuetz officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield.

A visitation will be held on Saturday December 27, 2008 from 5-8PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials can be sent to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson.

    Lois will surely be missed. She was a great friend in haromony of Sweet Adelines.

    Lois and I spent many a Thurs. nights traveling to Windom for Sweet Adelines. Our conversations were about family, friends, work and our sons. I will miss her sense of humor but have many fond memories.
