Lyle K. Fricke


LYLE KEITH FRICKE was born on May 13, 1930 in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, the son of Herbert and Minnie (Reineke).  At a young age, Lyle’s mother died and his father remarried Martha (Wagner).  As a youth, he attended school in Lakefield, Minnesota.  On January 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Gladys Ella Rossow at the parsonage for St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Heron Lake Township.  She passed away on February 21, 2008.  After marriage, Lyle served for 2 years during the Korean War in the National Guard stationed in Alabama.  After his service, he and Gladys settled in Lakefield until 1963, when they moved to Petersburg, Minnesota, then in 1970, they settled in Middletown Township, Jackson County.  Lyle worked for Minion Construction as a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years.  Lyle passed away at the Jackson Medical Center in Jackson on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 28 days.

Lyle was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson, he was very active as he was a member of the Church Council, a teacher for both Sunday school and Release Time he had been a greeter and Deacon and had been its Chief Acolyte.  He enjoyed camping.  He had made his own lawn tractor so he could mow his lawn which he greatly loved.  He ran a tractor to all the area threshing bees.  He loved to work with wood, making many bird houses, benches, and wood tractors.  He enjoyed gardening, playing dice and 500 with Gladys and the grandchildren, and his dog, Raven.

Lyle is survived by his sons, Dwayne (Cheryl) Fricke of  Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Jim (Mary) Fricke of Alpha, Ken (Janine) Fricke of Minnetonka, Minnesota and Ron (Joanne) Fricke of Petersburg, daughters, Cindy Johnson and her friend, Patrick Cheeseman of Jackson, Deb (Tim Lee) of Jackson, a son-in-law, Alan Oberloh of Worthington, a daughter-in-law, Lori Williams of Spirit Lake, Iowa,23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, June McDaniel of Wisconsin and Joy Hohenstein of Lakefield and a brother, Robert (Lynette) Fricke of Balaton, Minnesota.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys, 2 daughters, Julie Dorschner and Joan Oberloh, a son, John Fricke and 2 grandchildren, Lyle Ron Fricke and Jackie Fricke, and 3 brothers, Norman Fricke, Clinton Fricke and William Fricke.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday December 19, 2008 at 10:30AM with Pastor Eric Hullstrom officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will take place following the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Petersburg Township. 

Visitation will take place on Thursday December 18, 2008 from 5-8PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
