Darlene Frances Greenside
DARLENE FRANCES GREENSIDE, the daughter of Vern and Blanche (Glackin) Greenside, was born on July 10, 1946 in Jackson, Minnesota. Darlene attended Jackson Public Schools. In 1966 Darlene started work for the Jackson Good Samaritan Center as a Nurses Assistant, where she worked for 33 years. Darlene loved her job and she truly enjoyed working with the residents and all of her fellow staff. She was a resident of Jackson her entire life. Darlene passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester on Monday November 17, 2008 at the age of 62 years, four months, and seven days.
Darlene was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson. She was a lifetime fan of Minnesota Sports; supporting the Vikings, Twins, and the Golden Gopher Football and Basketball teams. She also enjoyed being outdoors; mowing the lawn, going for walks, and riding her bike about town. She especially loved mowing the lawn with her John Deere mower that she won in a drawing. She also enjoyed going out to eat, playing BINGO and being with her friends.
Darlene is survived by her mother, Blanche of Jackson, Minnesota; a sister Dolores (Larry) Dopp; and her brother Ron Greenside and his special friend Diane Thompson. She is also survived by her niece Lisa (Mark) Domyahn of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her two nephews Lon (Jill) Dopp of Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Devin Greenside of Jackson, Minnesota; her three great-nieces Jocelyn Dopp, Lauren Dopp, both of Cottonwood, Minnesota and Evonne Domyahn of Minneapolis, Minnesota and her great-nephew Connor Dopp of Cottonwood, Minnesota.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father Vern who passed away in 1985.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday November 22, 2008 at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will be held immediately following the service at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.
A visitation will be held on Friday November 21, 2008 from 5-7PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson, with a rosary service starting at 6:45PM. There will also be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
